What are the Best Features of the Honeywell HPA300 HEPA Air Purifier?
This powerful air purifier is rated to cover 465 square feet. That's the size of a large room.
One review I read said that it even did a great job in a room that was 900 square feet!
You'll notice lots of air movement when you use it. It circulates the air up to 5 times every hour. That means that it's working to keep your air clean and fresh.
It's powerful, but it's quiet. It's not going to interfere with sleeping or watching TV.
An easy to use control panel puts you in charge. You can choose from 3 air cleaning levels or Turbo Clean to suit your needs.
A lot of people start it out on Turbo and then lower the speed to keep the air allergen-free.
If you like, you can set the timer for 2, 4, or 8 hours, or just let it run continuously.
The control panel also tells you when it's time to replace the filters.
Do you have a hard time sleeping when there's light in the room?

Are There Any Negative Points?
One negative is that you'll have to replace the filters on a regular basis, and that can get expensive.

Another problem some users have reported is that sometimes the front grille gets loose, and it's easy to knock off by accident.
What Does the HPA300 Remove From the Air?
There are two stages of filtration that the air goes through in this device.
First, the carbon pre-filter gets rid of bad odors and captures large particles like dust, lint, and pet hair.
Then the HEPA filter removes up 99.97% of airborne particles that are 0.3 microns or larger. Those particles are allergens like pollen, dust, smoke, mold spores, and pet dander.
The HEPA filter also helps to get rid of airborne germs and VOCs.
How Does the Air Flow Through It?
This is an important question because the answer determines where you can put it.
The air intake is in the front of the device and it goes out through the top. So you don't want to place it under anything that would restrict the air flow.
What Is the CADR?
The CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) tells you the volume of air that the device can filter. The higher the numbers, the faster the cleaner can work.
The HPA300's CADR is 300/320/300 for dust/smoke/pollen. That's an excellent rating!
How Often Do the Filters Need to be Replaced?
You'll need to replace the HEPA filter every 3-5 years and the carbon pre-filter every 3 months.
They're simple to install and remove. Just open the front grille, put them in place, and close it back up.
Does It Produce Ozone?
No. HEPA filters don't produce ozone.
Does It Have a Warranty?
Yes, it does. Honeywell offers a 5-year warranty on this air purifier.
How Does the HPA300 Compare to the Honeywell 50250-S?
First of all, the 50250-S only covers 390 square feet, and the HPA300 covers 465 square feet.
The 50250-S is round and measures 18 x 18 x 20 inches. The HPA300 is 22 x 14 x 24 inches, but it takes up less floor space.

The HPA300 is quieter but you have to replace the filters more often - 3 to 5 times per year versus once a year for the 50250-S.
When it comes to energy efficiency, the HPA300 is the winner.
It draws 30% less power than the 50250-S: 133 watts on Turbo Clean for the HPA300 versus 180 watts on high for 50250-S.

I don’t think filters should be costing so much per year. It is outrageous. I have seen a filter costing $20 less 3 years ago – so why the big hike in price? That is much much more than the cost of living yearly increase.
