People like you and me care about things like the quality of the water we drink and the air we breathe. We can't control the conditions "out there", but we can take steps to control the quality of the environment inside our own homes.
I'll admit it - I didn't really think about these things until I became a parent. But becoming responsible for the well-being of another person made me see it in a whole new light. I decided to do whatever I could to give my family a loving, safe, and healthy home.
One of the first things I did was to make sure that our water was clean tasting and free of any kind of toxins. Sure, the city adds chlorine to the water to kill germs, but who wants to drink chlorine? And the water may be clean when it leaves the treatment plant, but who knows what it might have picked up on the way to the house? Not to mention the 50 year-old plumbing in my house! So I did my research and bought a filter for our drinking water.
My kids are all grown now, but I still want my home to be as safe and healthy as possible. I love learning, and I love sharing helpful information with other people. I've found some great products and resources for making healthy homes. I started this blog so I can share it with you. We're all in this together!
Who is writing this, you ask? I'm Marge Sweigart, a mom of five and grandmother of
one two. My husband and I moved from a large city in the South to a tiny rural town in New Hampshire in 2016. It's been a big - and wonderful - change!
I grew up in central Pennsylvania, and I hold a B.A. degree in Communication from Penn State University.
Besides blogging and talking about safe and healthy homes, I enjoy cooking, gardening, knitting, and listening to all kinds of music. I also enjoy hanging out with friends and family, and watching college basketball.
So take a look around. Leave a comment if you like. I hope you'll come away feeling equipped to take charge of your own safe and healthy home.
